38 Years Strong: The New York Mini Is Back

Some tournaments come and go. The New York Mini just keeps going — and going — and going.

This summer, we celebrate 38 years of 9-man volleyball, community, culture, and everything that makes this tournament unlike anything else on the court. Whether you’ve been lacing up for decades or you’re stepping into the tradition for the first time, NYMini 2026 is the weekend you don’t want to miss.

What Is the New York Mini?

The New York Mini isn’t just a tournament. It’s a tradition — one that has brought together generations of players, families, and communities for nearly four decades. Rooted in the spirit of 9-man volleyball and deeply connected to the culture of Chinatown and the broader Asian American community, NYMini is where the game meets something bigger than the game.

Every year, teams from across the country converge on New York City to compete, connect, and celebrate. And this year, we’re doing it bigger than ever for year 38.

Tournament Details

Whether you’re a returning veteran or a first-time competitor, the court is calling. Come ready to compete — and come ready to be part of something special.

Registration Is Open — But Act Fast

Team managers and captains can register now through our official registration form. Here’s what you need to know before you submit:

Registration is first come, first served — with a priority process in place:

  1. NACIVT Board Approved Legacy Teams
  2. Teams competing at Montreal NACIVT over Labor Day Weekend
  3. Teams that have participated in the last 5 consecutive NYMini tournaments

Teams outside of these priority tiers will be waitlisted until all priority teams are reviewed. Submitting your form early matters.

⚠️ Submitting a registration form does not guarantee your team a spot. Acceptance depends on city permit approvals and priority review.

Team Limits: Maximum of 2 teams per club per gender division.

Registration Fees:

  • Men’s Division — $500 USD per team
  • Women’s Division — $400 USD per team
  • Security Deposit — $300 per team (required)

Payment Window: Accepted teams have 2 weeks to submit payment. Missing the deadline may cost your team its spot.
